Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Farm Manager (2IC) to join our client’s team in Bears Lagoon, outside Bendigo. The role involves supporting the Farm Manager in overseeing site operations to ensure best practices in occupational health & safety, animal welfare, production, and farm maintenance.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to and monitor compliance with company standards on Farming, Good Manufacturing Practices, Hygiene, Sanitation, and Biosecurity.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and good health of livestock, maintaining compliance with animal welfare policies.
  • Oversee general farm and machine maintenance within your competency level.
  • Maintain backup and alarm systems, ensuring the Alarm Call Roster is up to date.
  • Supervise staff, allocate duties, and ensure compliance with licensing requirements for specific tasks.
  • Provide induction and training for employees, contractors, and labor hire staff in line with company procedures.
  • Manage staff performance, behavior, and ensure adherence to company policies on performance management and discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
  • Maintain records and documentation as required, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Report to company representatives as required and comply with all policies and procedures.
Mandatory Prerequisites:
  • Experience in agricultural business.
  • Proven people management and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and training abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including scheduling and staff management.
  • Knowledge and management of food safety and OH&S practices.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
